Which Jump Rope DVD Should You Choose?
One of the neat aspects of jumping rope is the minimal equipment that you need. You of course need a jump rope and a jump rope mat to minimize bodily strain. There are many kinds of jump ropes available for adults, including woven fabric, leather, beaded, weighted and more. They are available anywhere that sells sporting goods and exercise equipment. Something you may not have considered is a jump rope DVD. There are workout programs that utilize a jump rope which you can follow along with right on your television via DVD.
One DVD you may want to start off with is Ropesport: Basic Workout. This is a program for beginners to jumping rope for fitness. This DVD is an introductory lesson to the practice of jumping rope. It talks about which jump rope to choose and the proper length and form. Then you'll learn some basic techniques and more about jumping rope for fitness. If you understand the fundamentals and are ready for a more challenging workout, take a look at the next DVD in this series.
The next DVD in this series features the same stars as the others in this series (Eric Nies and Kelly Packard) but is Ropesport: Intermediate Workout. This is for those who have mastered the basics of jumping rope and want to get an effective cardiovascular workout. The next in the series is the Advanced workout, which should only be attempted once you have mastery over the Intermediate workout. The final DVD in the Ropesport series is Ropesport: Extreme Workout which teaches tricks and pro moves for extremely skilled jump rope enthusiasts.
It is recommended that you start with the beginner DVD and work your way up as your skill and fitness levels increase. A jump rope DVD can be extremely helpful when it comes to learning a variety of techniques and getting in shape. Of course you'll also need a jump rope, and a jump rope mat made to decrease impact to the body. Ropesport sells their own brand of jump rope, however if you want a different one make sure it is the right length by stepping on the middle and pulling the handles up to reach under your arms. This is the proper way to measure your rope and get the right one according to your height.
